Mission Statement
Coláiste Pobail Osraí is a learning community seeking to achieve the highest level of education through the medium of Irish for its pupils. This journey is undertaken in an environment that encourages self-esteem and mutual respect. The challenge of education is undertaken in a supportive way that develops all the gifts of our students.
In Coláiste Pobail Osraí a great emphasis is placed on our Irish identity. This is achieved through sport, music, respect for our language and our rich cultural heritage. We recognise the role each individual plays in terms or our educational partnership.
Emphasis is placed on spirituality, personal skills and ability in a positive open environment. Courage and pride is awoken through the day to day activities at our school.
Welcome to Coláiste Pobail Osraí.
Choosing a second level school is an important decision for your child, and I am very grateful that you are considering our Gaelcholáiste located in the heart of Kilkenny City.
Since our founding in 1991, Coláiste Pobail Osraí has grown into a vibrant and inclusive learning community where the Irish language and culture are celebrated every day. As a co–educational, multi–denominational school under the patronage of Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board, we pride ourselves on fostering the core values of Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community, and Respect.
We are committed to providing a quality education that supports the academic, personal and social development of all pupils. Our dedicated team works closely with the students to develop their talents, offering a broad and balanced curriculum combined with strong personal care. In this school, diversity is celebrated and it is ensured that all pupils feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
Our school community is based on mutual respect and collaboration, and we pride ourselves on the positive, inclusive atmosphere we foster. School life is full of opportunities—from sport, music, drama and community engagement, pupils are encouraged to explore their interests and develop their talents.
We place a strong emphasis on immersion education through Irish, which adds unique and rich value to their educational experience.
